Riley is 2!!

My sweet baby is not a baby anymore. We can't believe what a big little girl she is turning into!











Riley has learned so many things in the last 6 months. She never ceases to amaze me! She is quite the parrot and loves to repeat phrases she hears mommy say. Today it was "so fun" and "no way", the other day it was "whatever!" :)

Riley can say all her ABCs (I will try to post the video soon), she counts to ten like this 1,2,3,4,5...8910!!! She also knows the words to many songs. Her favorites are Jesus Loves Me, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and since her birthday party Happy Birthday. Riley talks mostly in sentences at home and if she is comfortable but will barely speak if she is around people she doesn't know well. Some of her most common phrases are "Riley do it" "I do it", "I need _____" She communicates her wants and requests very well.

Riley also understands when she is too worked up and will ask for time out. This is most common after she has been told no. She will cry and get upset then run to her crib, crying, asking for time out. After a minute or two of "time out" she is a totally different, happy toddler. She seems to know when she needs to calm down and restart.

Riley is very into being independent and she always wants to buckle her seat belt, brush her own teeth, take off her own diaper, etc. This is great! But not if your trying to get anywhere fast :)

This will be too much info for some (so stop reading) but Riley has also started using her potty before bath each night and sometimes by request during the day. I don't believe she is ready or has the bladder control for full on potty training but I don't think it will be too much longer.

Riley is such a joy. Such a spirited, loving, sweet little girl. We are so thankful for this blessing we have been given!
