Riley loves her new toy aunt Kristi got her not long ago. It amazes me that just a few weeks ago all she would do is stand and play with this toy with the brake on and today she learned to zoom up and down the middle of our living room. She would get so upset whenever she got stuck on furniture or when Clay/I had to turn her around. She wants to GO!!!

Missions 2, 3, and 4

So I fell behind on my organization missions. But after a friend asked about my missions, I knew I needed to step it up and follow through with what I started, so I caught up. (Thanks for the motivation Paige! :) I did 3 missions in about 20 minutes.

Mission #2: Detox your bag.
My purse usually isn't too bad. Well, okay sometimes isn't too bad. But it does happen to be a catch-all for weird things and tons of receipts. Back when I was teaching I would end up with all sorts of whack objects in my purse. Toy cars, blocks, math manipulatives, you name it.


This is the pile of trash that came from my purse; I am shocked at just how much was in there. After the quick detox, my newly organzied purse contains my wallet, 2 pens (Clay always needs one too during church), Burts Bee's chapstick, small packet of kleenex. Thats it! Yay, oh and I add my phone when out and about.

Mission #3: Bills

So I was supposed to set up auto-pay on every bill that I could. If not able to setup auto payments, enroll for internet payments. And lastly if there were bills that neither could be done, set up calendar for paying those bills. I already do all of this so this, on to the next one.


Mission #4: Forgo the Freebies

Not really sure exactly what freebies they are talking about. I don't sign up for really anything and don't usually pick up any free magazines/articles/etc. The only thing I'm bad about is getting emails from very retailer I have ever shopped. So I think I will unsubscribe to many of these emails. I usually just delete them without reading anyways.

10 months

Clay and I are still in shock that our sweet baby is 10 months old. Riley's personality is really shining now. She is so fun, sweet, happy, and active! She loves to explore everything and anything and is does not like to sit/lay still. (No one warned me how difficult changing diapers becomes after about 8 months.)

Here are some things Riley's up to:

-Riley is now standing on her own. (not usually for long periods of time, but several seconds)

-She will walk a few steps while holding onto furniture.

-Riley is pointing with her index fingers.

-She is can drink from a sippy cup (and has been able to for awhile.)

-She can wave hi and goodbye

-She understands the word no, but doesn't always obey. (She doesn't like to be told no.)

-She is saying mama and dada and babbling more.

-Riley loves to throw things, balls, toys, etc.

Probably one of my favorite thing she does now is while eating puffs she will offer one to me/Clay/whoever is feeding her. But after a few seconds or when we open our mouths to accept her puff offering, she will quickly stuff it in her face and giggle. She is already quite the jokester.

Riley what an amazing blessing you are! We love you!!

Bluebonnets

Its all Greek to me!

This past weekend we traveled down to Ft. Worth for one of Clay's fraternity brother's wedding. We went up Thursday afternoon (perk of Clay being his own boss) and just hung out all day Friday. Friday night was the fun rehearsal dinner, George's family hosted the event at Billy Bob's. Neither Clay nor I had been, it was quite a sight. That place is ginormous.

On Saturday I was thrilled that my parents had located a perfect patch of bluebonnets. I thought we would just have to miss out this year because I procrastinated and all bluebonnets had faded around Houston. So we quickly snapped some pics of Riley (I will post these soon) before heading back to Ft. Worth for the wedding.

I have been really excited about this wedding because Tina (the bride) is Greek and as she put it, the wedding would be something along the lines of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding!"

It was such an interesting and lengthy ceremony. I was so glad that in the program Tina put detailed info about exactly what was happening and the traditional symbolism of it. The thing that stuck out the most to me was the lack exchanging of vows.

It is very hard to see, but in the picture above George and Tina were rounding the table 3 times, to symbolize the Trinity. Below they are wearing their crowns tied together with a ribbon, which were exchanged back and forth a total of 3 times.

The rehearsal was at the Omni in downtown FW and was beautiful. There was lots of dancing, drinking and lots of fun! Tina was such a beautiful bride!!

Pretty cake, Tina's colors were teal (with pink flowers) and she had lots of peacock feathers in the decor. Fun!

Traditional Greek dancing! They danced alot and it was so fun to watch.

Swim lessons

Riley and I started a Mommy and Me swim class at the Y last week. We are having such a good time playing in the water! Riley really loves to swim and will kick, kick, kick and splash around until we are both soaked. I think she may be half frog! After our first class, I was telling Clay just how much Riley loved it and so Clay decided to join us for our 2nd class. It was great, not only did he get to see her in action but we both got to take pictures too!

(I did not adjust some of the settings before Clay took pics of me and Ry so that is why they are very very bright.)

We will both be sad when the classes end in 3 weeks but I think I will continue to take her for a swim at least once a week!
