4 months

Sweet Reese is 1/3 of a year old!  It is so hard to believe!  She is definitely out of the newborn/young baby look :(.  Reese is showing us more and more of her personality each week!  She is starting to giggle more and has become WAY more interested in what is going on around her.  She loves her sister and looks for her whenever she hears her.  She is still very much a mommys girl and can get pretty worked up if she is too tired.  We often call her my lil koala bear b/c she just loves to snuggle with me!  I love it, but I know Clay is dying for more relaxed snuggle time with her.

Reese had her 4 month appointment and the Dr thought she looked great!  She said we could start solids (starting with rice cereal) now, but I think I will wait a bit longer.  She is just now starting to even notice if we are eating.  Reese's growth is right on track and hasn't made any major changes.
Here are her stats:
Weight:  13lb 4 oz (39%)
Length:  25.5" (89%)
Head circ: 15.5"

Some things she's up to now:
- She has found her feet while laying on her back
- She has rolled over 4-5 times now (front to back)  I have not see this but Clay witnessed it once.  The other time were from nap time.
- Reese grabs for toys and can hang onto them.  She will reach for her paci, grab it and try to get it to her mouth.
- She is starting to hang out in her bumbo some.
- Her hair is still growing and we have quite the mullet in the back. :)  It does seem thinner to me but that could be because she rubs her head a ton when she's sleeping and has rubbed a ring of hair off.
- She is still only breastfed and has carved herself out a pretty consistent schedule.  Eating about every 3 hours or so.
-Was sleeping for a 6-7 hr stretch each night.  Was being the key here.  The past 1.5-2 weeks have been tough for us at night.  I think she must be going through the "4 month wakeful."  She's wakes up quite a bit and isn't hungry but just kindof restless and uncomfy.  I am praying she will quickly get back to her routine of waking only once/twice a night.

We love you sweet Reese.  You are precious to us and we are so blessed by you!

Riley is so so sweet with Reese!
She is always so helpful and loving toward her.  She asks for her whenever she is asleep and hugs and kisses on her each morning and night.  Riley helps change diapers (especially poopy ones. ha!),  she picks up and washes the paci if it falls, she talks to Reese to calm her if she's upset.  What a good big sister.  Riley is also working on sharing her toys, now that Reese can grab and play with toys this isn't always easy but Riley is doing a great job! Watching the two of them interact is so much fun for Clay and I!

30? really?

So I turned 30 on May 17th.  It was really no big deal.  I don't really feel older and I don't really look much older.

When Clay turned 30 I threw a big surprise party for him and he LOVED it.  See here.  Well I am not big into surprises and made him promise not to do that for me.  It turned out Clay had to be in Las Vegas for business the day after my birthday, so we decided we would all go to my parents house in Ft Worth so I wouldn't be alone for 4 days with the girls.  We drove up on my actual birthday and Clay mentioned he made arrangements for us to have dinner in Ft Worth and that my parents would watch the girls while we celebrated together.  Reese was such a champ on the drive up there, in fact all was going well until College Station.   There was a huge wreck and the entire highway 6 was closed.  Clay was getting very antsy and impatient, he kept saying he we would be late and didn't think we could change our reservations.  Well, I figured somehting was up because I told him to just call the restaurant and change our time.  He said he emailed them :)  It turned out my sweet husband had planned of two of my college roommates, their husbands, and my dorm RA to meet us at Joe T Garcias (YUM!) for dinner.  It was a sweet unexpected surprise and it was so good to see them!  (No photos :( boo.)  The perfect way to celebrate.  He also surprised me with a stinking awesome new lens for my camera.  Woohoo.

Here are a few pics from our stay at my parents.

Our guppy turns into a goldfish

The past two summers Riley and I have taken mommy and me swim lessons, but this year she was old enough to do lessons on her own!  So back to Houston Swim club we went although this year we tried a different location (due to scheduling.)

To start off the lessons, Riley had to go every day for 2 weeks and then transitioned to once/week.  She cried the first day only after two other girls in her class started screaming and then cried for the next 2 days for a few minutes at the beginning but by the fourth day there were no tears!! She made huge progress in the 2 week lessons!! Riley is very good at blowing bubbles, kicking, and row rowing her arms.  She will float on her back on her own and can swim on her own about 5 feet!!

She LOVES to swim!! And I am so thankful she does, my only issue is now she has absolutely NO fear of the water.  This is good but also scary.  We have to watch her like a hawk, I mean we always have but now she is just so much more confident in the water than before.

One of her favorite things about the lessons...a Dora doll! :)

We are so proud of Riley!  She learned so much in just one and a half months.  We are taking July off because we have been so busy but will start back in August.  I am confident she will be swimming on her own very soon.

Riley's first last day of school

Riley changed and grew so much during her first year of "school".  She loved her preschool, her new friends, and her teachers.  I am so thankful for her sweet preschool.  Her teachers did a great job loving on Riley and we are looking forward to next year!

Close to the last day of school.  Excuse the poor quality, phone photo.

First day of preschool.

Riley's last day also happened to be "Pet day" (she missed the official last day of school because we were out of town.)  Riley LOVED taking Scout to school and to be honest so did Clay!  We love our dog and Clay was thrilled to help Riley share him with the other children.

Scout did a great job behaving himself, although I think he did sneak in a few random kisses here and there.

Every pet gets an award and Riley was so so proud to come home with a Sweetest Eyes award for her "bubba dog."
