Gringo honeymoon (well 2nd honeymoon)

So this past week, Clay and I were fortunate enough to go to Mexico!! Whoo hoo! Neither of us had been and our only criteria for a vacation was beautiful, white beaches and crystal blue water. So the Riviera Maya was perfect (this is the area between Playa del Carmen and Cancun)! Many of our friends had been to that area for their honeymoons, so we knew it would be a great time. We stayed at a new resort (it just opened last Nov) The Valentin Imperial Maya. Wow! So beautiful! We had also never stayed at an all-inclusive. We really enjoyed not having to worry about carrying cash around to pay for meals, drinks, etc. It was so convienent.

So really we didn't do much. Basically, we just laid on the beach for six days straight. It was perfect and so so relaxing!! One day we snorkled, the Mayan reef is the 2nd largest in the world, behind only the Great Barrier reef. We saw huge schools of beautiful blue fish, zebra striped fish, Dorie-like fish, and Clay saw a ginormous grouper (just the head was the size of a basketball.) I am so so glad I did not see it. I would have tried running on water.

We had to change our flight to come home a little earlier (just a few hours), due to Tropical Storm Eduoard. The storm was supposed to hit Houston the day we were returning and it was supposed to be worse in the afternoon. So we moved our flight up and funny enough the storm came through Houston right about the time we were trying to land. :) We were holding in the air for awhile but after a quite bumpy descent we landed safely. You know it was a interesting (slightly stressful) flight when people clapped and cheered for the pilot upon landing. Oh and the sky was clear during our original landing time! :)
